Different sub genres of thrillers will appeal to different people:
Political thrillers: this will appeal to an older audience between the ages of 35-40, younger viewers will be very unlikely to watch a movie such as this because they want something more exciting and action packed. Older viewers will be drawn to this subgenre as they can relate and understand it. Upper middle class and middle class will also be drawn to this subgenre as it is complex may reflect parts of their lives. Reformers will also watch this subgenre as they are not interested in who’s in the movie; they care about what the movie is about.
Action Thrillers: this will appeal to males as they are drawn to action packed and dangerous films. Young people between the ages of 18-25 will also like these films as they are exciting and fast moving. Social class “E” (Students) will be drawn to this type of film as they are young they also have quit a lot spare time to go to the cinema and watch the film. Mainstreamers will also be drawn to this as it is very safe option because the content of the film is predictable, things will blow up and there will be dramatic chase scenes.
Supernatural thriller: This subgenre will appeal to middle aged people probably about 30-35. Also it will appeal to individualist because they don't follow the crowd and this subgenre won’t appeal to a mass amount of people and usually won’t have a big brand or extremely famous actors.
Our Audience
Audiences that we will like to target are the 16-25 year old as they are the age group that are the most likely to watch movies, also as our film may be an action thriller we will target this age group as they will attracted to it because it will appeal to them. We will mainly target males in this age group because they watch action thrillers more than females, we will do this by introducing characters that they can relate to, such as an antagonist who is not sure if he should do the evil deed. The social classes that we will aim at are E-C1 as people between the ages of 16-25 will most likely be in these classes and the issues that are being dealt with are things that they may be able to relate with, unlike upper middle classes.
